Fri, 27 Feb 2009 16:41:20 -0800 sevilla marathon http://colman.com.au/sevilla-marathon http://colman.com.au/sevilla-marathon on a cold sunday morning i raced the seville marathon, finishining in 1.35.54 in 3rd place, i am happy with this as i was against roger and jordi from spain who are some of the best marathon athletes in the world, and we stayed as 3 till 34km when roger broke away and i was then left with jordi, but im happy with how it went, roger was constantly attacking from 20 to 30km, but i was able to cover all of them but when he broke away i hit the wall which is expected but to still finish in such a good time is very pleasing, now i move onto barcelona marathon next week. till then cya

Fri, 27 Feb 2009 16:38:00 -0800 Al-ain http://colman.com.au/al-ain http://colman.com.au/al-ain hi everyone, well my trip has started well, i have managed to win the 100 and 800m and was second in both the 200 and 400 in the track meet, the track was a very slow thick track and we had windy conditions so there was no fast times recorded.  i managed to finish 8th in the 10km road race, in 20.10 we had 12 guys cross the finish line in a very tight pack and i narrowly avoided crashing just before the finish and lost some places but im glad i didnt crash, now onto seville marathon next weekend

Wed, 10 Sep 2008 13:33:45 -0700 Tuesday results http://colman.com.au/tuesday-results http://colman.com.au/tuesday-results well, last night didn't go the way we wanted, not sure what i can say but we didn't have the race we wanted in the relay, our first athlete lost control and crashed and we had 2 other bad changes as well, to finish well outside the medals in 4th place with China breaking world record. The night did however finish ok, in very heavy rain i managed to have a good win in my heat of the 400mt, so im happy today with a rest day, i get to get out of the village for a few hours to relax and then rest up for the final on thursday night a 8.45 well till next time keep an eye out for me.

Tue, 09 Sep 2008 03:02:51 -0700 first few days in beijing http://colman.com.au/first-few-days-in-beijing http://colman.com.au/first-few-days-in-beijing well i have spent my first few days in beijing, with constant team meeting and media events, and then trying to relax  for the rest of the time doesn't allow for much else. As the days have gone on more and more athletes have arrived so we have all been catching up with each other and seeing where everyone was in camp. Everyone is well and looks fit. I have managed to get out of the village twice, once to the temple of heaven and then to go shopping. the village is the best ever and everything is running very well, there is nothing wrong at all which is fantastic. Now for the opening tonight.

Fri, 11 Jul 2008 19:12:09 -0700 Meet in the Heat, Atlanta http://colman.com.au/meet-in-the-heat-atlanta http://colman.com.au/meet-in-the-heat-atlanta
Tonight i competed in the Meet in the Heat competition in Atlanta,
i managed to win the 800m, in 1.39.99 with the world champion in second and both other athens medalists in the field, i managed to get to the front early and held the speed high, and was able to hold the late attacks in the race, it was disappointing to go so slow but it is another step to beijing and to lead the whole race and to win with the quality field is a big confidence booster,
i also had a great win in the 400, in 50.4 which is respectable, in the windy conditions that we had tonight, as the world champion was second.

i finished 7th in the 1500, in 3.06 with Jun from japan winning in 3.04, it was a tough race with a very surging tactical race, each time i tried to move up there would be a near crash and athletes would jump out into my way, but i am happy with my speed and how i felt in the pack,

the last race of the night was the 5km i was second in the B final, in a time of 10.34 i am happy with this result as i pushed the pass for a few laps and managed to out sprint the athens silver medalist in the 800m,
now i travel to canada for boiling point next saturday night

Fri, 11 Jul 2008 19:10:24 -0700 Cedartown 5km http://colman.com.au/cedartown-5km http://colman.com.au/cedartown-5km
Hi Everyone
Tonight i competed in the Cedartown world championships 5km road race, after having the best 2 days weather we have ever had for this race, things looked promising with a great field with most of the same top 10 from sundays race competing again, the speed was fast from the start, i got boxed out at the first corner and was not in a great spot going into the second corner which has a big climb, so through the climb i missed the break in the pack. I tried to chase the leaders for 1km but was making very little ground, i was in no mans land, finally 1 of the athletes from Japan was able catch up to me, we pushed together for the next km till a long down hill in which he went past with another athlete from Japan, at the bottom of the hill i joined up with another athlete and pushed the last 1500mt with him,
i finished in a disappointing position of 10th with 4 of sundays top 10 athletes which i beat finishing ahead of me today, i finished in a time of 10.20, with fellow australian Kurt Fearnley winning in 9.45 with 3 athletes around the same time. Everyone else was spread out, oh well i try again next year, now i travel down to atlanta for Meet in the Heat on saturday, so looking forward to having my first track competition in my new chair and this is the last big track meet before beijing.
till next time

Fri, 11 Jul 2008 19:08:45 -0700 New York 10km http://colman.com.au/new-york-10km http://colman.com.au/new-york-10km
On the weekend i compete in the Long Island 10km Wheelchair race,
on saturday i was 6th in an 800mt road time trial, i am very happy with how it went, first race in my new chair from my new sponsor OX Japan, and i felt great had good speed.
Sunday morning was the 10km, with a large number of the best distance athletes in the world racing everyone new it was going to be tough and a very fast race,
i managed to stay with the pack all the way, there was lots of attacks and serges from athletes but over the 10km 10 athletes stayed, i managed to move up slowly by the last corner into 5th, the then i attacked
i finished in 3rd Place, this is the best result possible, and also a PB my first time under 20minutes, 19.54
i finished 3 seconds behind Australian Kurt Fearnley with the top 7 athletes all finishing under 20minutes

so i am very happy with how sunday's went, i had great speed and better endurance than expected, and i am very happy with this new chair and how it is going well, i had help fixing it the other day from one of the japanese athletes so now it is all good,

i am now in cedartown - georgia, we race again tuesday night at the world championship 5km road race, so i am looking forward to have a another good race, i finished 5th here last year,

On saturday is Meet in the Heat, the biggest track meet of the american summer for the wheelchair athletes in Atlanta, almost all of the top 10 guys in the 800 will be there so it will be a real test to see how everyones preparation is going, and to see how much they have improved since europe a few weeks ago.
