The Dream Roll Blog 10 - Home Race

Today I thought I would write a little about this weekend’s upcoming road race and how important this weekend is to me in today’s Dream Roll blog.

As Elite athletes we compete day in day out somewhere around the world from London to Tokyo to New York and everywhere between and often we race with out support of many people at the race. We very rarely get to compete in front of family and friends but when the opportunity arises we love it no matter what and I would never miss an event in my home town for anything because without the support from this truly incredible town over the many years throughout my career I wouldn’t have been able to achieve what I have so far in my career so thank you to everyone for your huge input in my life.

This weekend I get to push 12km around my home town of Geelong for CottonOn Foundation Run Geelong which I am a proud ambassador. Every dollar raised from this event goes directly to the Geelong hospital who do so much work for our community so it’s great to be able to do something fantastic for this community and raise much needed funds which will have a meaningful impact on everyone living in this area for many years to come.

There is an event for everyone from a 12km run which I will be taking part in to a 6km run and even a 6km walk which I will also be having a roll around in in my day chair so I can get involved with everyone taking part in this event as well after the 12km in my racing wheelchair but this year the events have expanded to include a 1km kids run so no matter your age or ability there is an event for everyone so come on down and just enjoy a wonderful Sunday out in the sun in Geelong.

I hope to see everyone from all over come down to Geelong to take part in the event and to enjoy being involved in such a fantastic community event. Come say hi during the day as I will be out to meet as many people as possible as we have so many incredible people living in this city and I couldn’t think of a better place to live and train and it is always wonderful to come home to Geelong after a long trip on the road racing.

Until next time, keep searching the world for your dream.
